Social Media – Being Safe and Being Responsible
The world has changed so much in the last few years and it has really complicated what it is like to be a kid growing up in elementary school in 2018. But below are some great resources from some fantastic organization helping kids and parents navigate this new world.
Safer Schools Together – Parent Resources Section:
This organization is supported by the Ministry of Education and they provide both in-class youth education and parent sessions including coming to QE this spring. There are useful tools including digital media family contracts, protecting your privacy on Facebook, Social Media Check List and a list of inappropriate video games for kids.

Kids Help Phone – Resource Section:
This organization is an amazing resource to support kids and parents dealing with some difficult issues including bullying, cyber bullying, and suicide as well as promoting emotional well being.
Canadian Centre for Child Protection
This organization is focused on reducing the victimization of children from abuse and increasing their safety awareness including providing a tip line for reporting the online sexual exploitation of children.
We all need to do our part. Be aware. Be knowledgeable. Be responsible. Be a leader.
